The Bride and Groom Lead the Party: Why you NEED to Dance on your Wedding Day

While it may seem like the only responsibility on the day as the bride and groom is to get married, there is a list of other things that are a 'must do' like dancing at your reception. For some, this portion is one of the most fun things to do; for other couples, the thought of doing it in front of a large group of loved ones is the most frightening thing ever. But there is something to be said about why you NEED to dance on your special day, and as specialist DJ and MC in Melbourne and Yarra Valley, we have long experience in choosing the right music for this and share with you why this is so important.

Getting the Night Started

Our DJs and singers have much experience in getting gatherings roused when it comes to your wedding reception. However, the guests are waiting for the bride and groom to do their first dance. For them, it's a beautiful expression of your love for one another and gives them 'permission' to get up on the floor to get the night started.

As daunting as it may seem, we have some steps you can go through to make your moves work for you:

1. Pick a song special to you both

You both must choose a song that you love because then you get to savour the moment more. Fast or slow, it doesn't really matter. Your Melbourne and Yarra Valley Disc Jockeys can help make some great suggestions if you are unsure.

2. Practice a few moves

While you don't need to take lessons, practising some moves before the day will help things run more smoothly. If doing a big and fun routine is more your thing, then getting private lessons is ideal and can make a fun way to begin the evening.

3. Enjoy the moment

No matter how shy you feel or how daunting getting up in front of everyone is - especially if it isn't your thing, just go with the flow and enjoy the moment. If you make a mistake, just laugh it off because, at the end of it all, it's your day.

When Does the Dancing Begin?

Our best wedding MCs will be able to offer you advice on the order of your evening, but that doesn't mean you can't organise it to suit your needs. If dancing together first is really the part of the day you want to get over with, there are a couple of ways to get it done early:

  • Enter your celebration to a fun song that your guests can cheer and clap to, and then you and your guests can all head straight to the floor.

  • Make it the first item on the night's plan; that way, there is less time to get nervous.

So, ask us how we can help your reception get off to a great start with our DJ's, MCs and Singers.
